Community Guidelines

FRIENDS works because people show up as themselves and treat each other well. These are the rules that keep it that way.
Last updated 25 October 2026 · Version 1.0

The short version

Be real. Be kind. Ask before you push. Meet safely. If something feels wrong, report it — a person reviews every report.
These guidelines apply to profiles, photos, messages and how you treat people on and off the app. They are part of our Terms of Service.

Respect people

No harassment, threats, hate speech, slurs or discrimination.
No bullying, humiliation, or sharing someone’s private information without permission.
Respect a "no". If someone stops replying, unmatches or blocks you, let it go. Do not create another account to get around it.
Disagreements happen. Keep them civil and do not escalate in chat.

Consent and boundaries

Do not send sexual content, explicit photos or sexual demands unless the other person has clearly said yes — and stop immediately if they change their mind.
Never share or threaten to share intimate images of someone else. That can be a crime in Kenya.
No pressure for money, gifts, travel, or anything else that makes the other person uncomfortable.

Real people, real photos

Use your own recent photos. Do not impersonate anyone or use someone else’s pictures.
One account per person. Do not run accounts for other people.
You must be 18 or older. Profiles that suggest a user is a minor will be removed.
Do not advertise businesses, sell services, or use FRIENDS for commercial solicitation.

Keep it legal and safe

No scams, fraud, catfishing, romance fraud, or requests for money or M-Pesa transfers.
No illegal drugs, weapons, stolen goods, trafficking, or other criminal activity.
No malware, phishing links, or attempts to hack another account.
Do not record or screenshot private chats and publish them without consent.

What happens when guidelines are broken

Depending on what happened, we may remove content, send a warning, restrict features, suspend your account or ban you permanently. Serious harm — especially involving minors or threats of violence — can lead to an immediate permanent ban and a report to the authorities.
You can appeal a decision by emailing support@friendskenya.com. We will look at the context, but we may keep a user off the service while a safety investigation is open.

How to report

Use the report option on a profile or in a chat. Choose the closest reason and add detail if you can. If someone is in immediate danger, contact the Kenya Police on 999 or 112 first, then tell us so we can act on the account.
For anything else, email support@friendskenya.com. Read our Safety Tips for practical advice on meeting people.

Need a hand?

A person reads every message. Email support@friendskenya.com and we will help with account, payment, privacy or safety questions.
